Vera Nanchoff (Evtimovska), age 94, of Broadview Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Vera was born on July 21, 1931, in Carev Dvor, Macedonia to her parents, Zivko and Nikolina. She grew up with her two sisters, Marica and Mence, her brother, Mitko, and many cousins who filled her childhood with love.
In 1969, Vera and her late husband , Jovan, came to the United States with their two sons, George and Louie, and made their home in Akron, Ohio. Together they built a life centered around family and her son's love of soccer.
Vera will be remembered for her beautiful vegetable gardens, her delicious baklava, and the many beautiful blankets and scarves she crocheted If you were fortunate enough to receive one of her handmade creations, you knew you would be warm forever.
To her family, she was known as Baba Vera. She adored her family, grandchildren, George (Alyssa), Nicole, Michael (Katie), Christopher, and
Brent, and great-grandchildren Isabella (9), Noah (5), and Milo (1). Her love and devotion to them will be cherished forever.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Jovan; her parents, Zivko and Nikolina; her sisters, Marica and Mence; and her brother, Mitko. She is survived by her sons, George (Mariann) and Louie (Caryl), along with her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members, Kumovi, and friends.
A church funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18 at 1:00 pm at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 2151 W. Wallings Road. V. Rev. Mijoljub Matic officiating. Burial to follow at St. Sava Cemetery followed by a dacha (luncheon) in the small hall.
Vera's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
