Thomas F Rantanen

Thomas F. Rantanen, age 80, of North Royalton, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.  Dearest son of Oscar and Anne (nee Babish) (both deceased).  Beloved husband of Bonnie (nee Gastel) for 55 years.  Devoted brother of Robert J. (Mildred) and Ronald E. (Penny).  Proud godfather and uncle of Allison Baloglu, Matthew Chirdon, Lindsay Helmuth, Mary Bridget Burns, and Bonnie Gurry Corbetta as well as many nieces and nephews.  Dear brother-in-law of Kathleen Mayor (deceased) (Joe-deceased), Marilyn Gurry (deceased) (Mel), Linda Chirdon (Guy), and George Gastel (Nancy). 

Tom attended St. John High School (Ashtabula) and Case Western Reserve University.  After graduating, Tom joined Reliance Electric where he contributed 24 3/4 years of service.  He worked several sales and marketing positions to complete his career.  After retirement, Tom volunteered for a number of years with the St. Albert community choir.  In addition he was a Red Coat volunteer at Playhouse Square and a poll worker for Cuyahoga County. 

Tom enjoyed travel for both business and personal opportunities.  He especially enjoyed cruises.  His travels included the Caribbean, Europe and the Orient.  He also visited numerous states and Canada. 

In lieu of flowers contributions are appreciated in remembrance of Tom at St. John High School, 7911 Depot Street, Ashtabula, 44004 or to a charity of your choice.  

Visitation Sunday, September 20 from 4-6 pm at Faulhaber Funeral Home, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague Road).  Prayers at the funeral home on Monday, September 21 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Albert the Great Church,6667 W. Wallings Road at 10 am.
