Norbert J Hannibal Profile Photo

Norbert J. Hannibal, age 91. Cherished husband of Rosemary (nee Barry) for 40 years. Loving brother, uncle, and friend of many. Norbert was an active member of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church where he taught PSR and counseled people who were interested in the Catholic Faith. He also traveled to Honduras where he helped build wells and prepared children to receive their first Holy Communion.

Norbert was a dedicated member of the community where he was awarded Brecksville’s Man of the Year. He selflessly shuttled homebound people to medical appointments and visited nursing homes to raise the spirits of the residents.

Norbert was also a valued volunteer with Cleveland Metro Parks at Brecksville Reservation where he assisted park visitors and served “breakfast in the park.”

Norbert was a sports enthusiast who loved baseball. He founded the “Huff-N-Puffers,” a senior softball team in Garfield Heights where he played catcher. As a youth, he was a standout track athlete and as a senior, Norbert and his wife, Rosemary, were avid members of the Cleveland Hiking Club. They loved to travel out west to visit friends, but their favorite time together was polka dancing on the weekends. Norbert will be remembered for his dedication to helping others and he will be truly missed.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 20, at 10 AM at St. Basil Church, 8700 Brecksville Road. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Donald A. Faulhaber Funeral Home, 7915 Broadview Road (at Sprague) on Sunday, October 19 from 3-7 pm.
