Mary Elizabeth (Marybeth) Devlin,beloved daughter of retired John Carroll University Prof. Frank J. and Pauline J. Devlin (nee Bober) (both deceased.) Marybeth is survived by her Aunt Cecilia Mordarski, her cousins and her many friends near and far.
Born in Cleveland Ohio, Marybeth was raised and resided in Miami, Florida. She graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Spanish and French. Marybeth was a faithful State of Florida employee for 30 yrs. working as a Labor, Employment and Training Specialist, Administrator and Supervisor.
In retirement, Marybeth was the sole caretaker of her mother Pauline, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer's disease. Marybeth lovingly cared for her mother until her death. Marybeth was a great dog mother to her cherished pets, Simbah and Lucky.
She was a wonderful friend and cousin. Whenever one of her friends or relatives discussed their latest aches and pains, Marybeth
would immediately explore the latest recommendations on treatments for their problems. She would always follow up with loving
care, concern and prayers for each one of us.
Marybeth was an expert consultant and advocate who did extensive research and published articles in support of her love and passion for wild horses and burros. She participated in podcasts in order to educate audiences on any activity that was harmful to endangered herds. Marybeth testified before Congress and the Bureau of Land Management-Dept. of the Interior in order to prevent the dwindling wild horse and burro population due to commercial and private enterprises. She was well known for her accurate facts rebutting misleading and false statements used by various anti wild horse and burros groups. She gave innumerable amount of hours to these causes using her own time and money. She was a tireless unstoppable force.
For Marybeth, life has not ended but merely changed. We will miss her kind, loving and caring spirit.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 14 at 11 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 3649 E. 65 th Street. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
