Chief Kenneth Jerome Mrozek, Sr.

April 7, 1943 – November 3, 2025

With deep love and profound admiration, our family announces the passing of Chief Kenneth Jerome Mrozek, Sr., who peacefully passed away on November 3, 2025, with his family by his side, at the age of 82. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, step-uncle, and proud American, Ken lived a life of purpose, honor, and unwavering commitment to both his family and community.

Ken made his home in Ruskin, Florida, with his beloved wife, Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Kathleen Seith, embracing peaceful days near the water. Born to Martin Mrozek and Irene (Knitter) Mrozek, he was raised with the values of hard work, faith, and integrity, principles that guided him throughout his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Building on his commitment to service, he continued his education by earning a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, preparing for a long and impactful law-enforcement career spanning 34 years.

Ken spent most of his career serving on the Palatine Police Department in Illinois before being appointed Chief of Police of the City of Harvard, Illinois, where he served with dedication until his retirement in 2004. Under his leadership, total crime in the community reduced by 50.3%, reflecting his steadfast commitment to public safety and the people he served.

In retirement, Ken embraced a life filled with peace and purpose. He and Kathleen split their time between the water in Ruskin, Florida, and Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, where he found his greatest joy in boating and fishing.

Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Kathleen Seith, his daughter Anmarie (David) Deller, and his son Kenneth (Kathy) Mrozek, Jr. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cole (Olivia Ring) Deller, Jacob (Cassidy) Mrozek, with great-grandchildren Easton and Everett Mrozek, Brianna (Colton) Redford, with great-grandchild Griffin Redford, Tyler Mrozek, Preston Mrozek, and Jazmine Mrozek.

He especially cherished the time spent with his stepfamily and friends, including his in-laws, Brother-in-law Ronald (Janis) Seith, Sister-in-law Sandra Bushi, as well as his many step-nieces, step-nephews, and step great-nieces and step great-nephews: Kathleen (Victor) Seeley, Alexander and Morgan Seeley; Scott (Missy) Bushi, Eli Walkem; Cori (Chris) Cook, Angel and Braxton Cook; Brian Bushi, Kylie (Andy) Moran, Madison (Fiancé Jacob Graves), Gillian, and Dylan Bushi; Joe (Solvi) Bushi, Gaia and Fria Bushi.

Ken’s life embodied courage, humility, and steadfast love. His leadership inspired, his presence grounded, and his example will continue to guide all who knew him. His legacy lives in the values he taught, the lives he touched, and the family who loved him beyond measure.

He leaves behind a lasting example of service, both to his community and his family, showing that dedication, honor, and love can shape a well-lived life.

A committal service with military honors will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 12:45 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273.
